Hello! So nice to meet you :)
Hey! Nice to meet you! My name is Brad Robichaud, I am the and artist of Good Wave Tattoo, in Fredericton NB.
I run a private, appointment only tattoo studio, with ample parking amenities. South, side Fredericton just off the Woodstock Road.
What makes Good Wave different?
It is my goal to ensure you walk away from your tattoo feeling you had a positive experience. I am trying to offer a tattoo process that is a little different than what you may be used to. With my process I am trying to elevate the client experience by offering more of a personal touch. Let me elaborate a bit; I like to think a good tattoo takes time and careful planning:
How it will fit and flow with your body
How it looks with your other collections
How it could look with, or restrict, future collections you don’t have yet
How will the tattoo design look with age and how long will it last
For newer collectors it may be nice to have some extra time to talk about the process, different style possibilities, design limitations, the healing process, and lots more.
Whatever your plan is or wherever you are at with your tattoo journey, I want you to feel like you have lots of time to work with me and ask questions. We don’t have to commit to the first design we come up with, or rush to make a decision. I want you to feel comfortable and confident every step of the way.
It all starts with taking extra time during the consultation phase, where I prefer to have an appointment where we can meet, share some ideas back and forth, look up some reference images, etc.
It all begins with an idea…
I began my interest in tattoos and art in high school but it wasn’t until my first tattoo in my late 20’s that I became obsessed with collecting and the design process.
How can you take a piece of art and make it tell a story?
Can you give it flow and fit to make it look good on a body in motion?
At that time I had worked in many different roles from the military, a student in engineering, worked as a cook for years to earn my red seal, I have a gourmet mushroom side business and many other things. Once I got that first tattoo I knew I wanted to be a tattoo artist and have been studying and learning since then for about 4 years. I am not new to visual arts and have been creating and selling art for years, mostly graphic design, screen printing, jewellery making, drawing, and acrylic painting.
I am new to the tattoo industry but I have taken my study of the trade very seriously the past 4 years. I have worked very hard to get where I am today starting with the study of all technical aspects of the trade, filling notebooks as I complete my courses. I have talked to a handful of local artists to get advice and ask questions and feedback as I progress.
This is probably too much information in the following paragraphs but I will share if anyone is interested in my journey. Rome wasn’t built in a day, don’t rush to failure, just a few of the mantras I carry with me daily.
In addition to my independent study and consulting couple local mentors, I have spent over $5,000 in practical courses directly related to tattooing and tattoo design. WeMakeArtist was amazing and had over 55hrs of practical workshops of tattooing start to finish with over 12 different artists world wide! The 48-week Reinventing the Tattoo course was an amazing hands on practical experience with weekly art education chapters (university level), exercises, quizzes and homework, as well as weekly live zoom sessions with very respected tattoo artists around the world who critiqued and provided feedback on my designs. This course covered everything from technical aspects of tattoo, to coverups, with a large focus on improving my art skills as it relates to tattoo design.
I don’t really have a style preference right now I am open to practice in anything. If you have reference images that is helpful always. I have practiced some in traditional, minimalist, trash, and similar styles. However I am study more styles every day.
Currently I am enrolled in 6-month practical course (www.tattoomethodpro.com) entirely on practice skins with feedback from the tattoo group. This is the leading online tattoo course in the world right now and has been great accompaniment to advance my technical skills and techniques. I still like to go back to the basics once in a while although I am takeing a spin on some new techniques or equipment. In the coming chapters of my course, I will be practicing realistic black and grey portraits soon 😛 Practice makes perfect!
I’ve been doing tattoos on friends and new clients for about a year now, with great reviews and success. I put my name out there a bit now 2025, spending more hours in the studio, having a great time. If you have read this far I thank you and if you have questions or want some tattoo guidance always welcome. I hope to get the opportunity to meet you and hear about your tattoo vision!✌️
PS As usually I am always behind on my computer work, socials, and/or webpage portfolio; I am probably working on some tasty tattoos right now , message me to see my current portfolio.✨
